We held our first semi-annual work day in the North Lake Wire neighborhood on Saturday, March 17th. It was a huge success with 103 people from All Saints' coming out to volunteer, and we were joined by Chief Giddens and officers from the Lakeland Police Department, and four from The Dream Center to help provide tools and community resources.
Our volunteer teams worked on cutting back hurricane debris from vacant lots, picked up trash, mowed lawns and property maintenance where invited to do so, greeted people in the neighborhood, provided dry/cold food goods to over 93 individuals who came to us at our hospitality site, prayed for individuals at the hospitality site, met ministers who live and minister in the neighborhood who want to join us in future outings, and met homeowners who are active in their local neighborhood association.
Deacon Bob Johnson and the Outreach Committee are coordinating future engagements in the community throughout the year. The next semi-annual work day will be September 29, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. Save the date and join us!
