Since many of you practice the tradition of sharing thankful thoughts with your families at Thanksgiving, let me share some of mine with you...
I give thanks for your love and mercy.
I give thanks for your everlasting care of your flock.
I give thanks for the world you created with all its wonder and beauty.
I give thanks for family and friends, for my husband and son, parents and pets.
I give thanks for my parish family filled with families and friends who allow me to love and encourage them.
I give thanks for parish family and friends who love me in return.
I give thanks for the opportunity to serve Christ in our church, our community, and our diocese.
I give thanks for our country where I can worship freely and enjoy freedom of thought and belief.
I give thanks for the bounty that I experience, knowing that I have so much more (food, clothing, shelter, belongings) than most people in this world.
I give thanks for the peacefulness that I experience when there is so much turmoil in a world that is fraught with strife and evil.
I give thanks for You as You endure the waywardness of Your creatures and I pray for Your grace and mercy to abound each and every day in our lives.
Heavenly Father, thank You for the words of the psalmist who wrote "Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever" for it lifts my spirit and draws me to Your love. Amen and amen!
