The children's area had new faces this evening (and missed some old) as we met for the second time since Promotion Night where kids rise to their new grades and small groups. (We now have rising kindergartners and we said goodbye to our 5th graders who promoted to the youth group.)
After our small group class sessions and music, all students gathered for a craft-a-thon. We designed melted bead designs and shrunken design doodles. It was a wonderful way to have fellowship as a new group but also to discuss God's gifts of talent. We read Exodus 35:35 and discussed how God grants us talent and skill, such as musical ability, engineering minds, and artistic talent to make the world a more beautiful and meaningful place. Those gifts should be taken seriously, celebrated and utilized with the aim of glorifying God.
There was a good deal of discussion on what future careers or pursuits the students might wish to attempt, utilizing our special talents.
